Youngsters become tv stars

Six young scholars from Tottenham Hotspur have broadened their education in a unique way – and become television stars into the bargain!

Players from Spurs’ Academy and reserve squads joined in the launch of the club’s new kit when they visited BBC Television Centre to take part in a retro look at football fashions on Blue Peter.

Rob Burch, Leigh Mills, Cian Hughton, Matt Wells, Joe Martin and Chris Carey all took part in a look back at how football fashions have changed since 1870.

The lads were even supplied with authentic period boots and joined presenters Gethin Jones and Andy Akinwolere in sporting a variety of kits – including Tottenham’s new Special Edition 125th Anniversary kit.

Trevor Webb, the club’s Head of Education, says that it was a great experience all round. “It was a unique occasion – particularly the fact that they had to go and have make-up put on!

“Following on from when I worked with the scholars at West Ham, we like to try and get them involved in something a little bit different – which this certainly was!”

The icing on the cake? Yes, all the boys came away with a Blue Peter badge!
