Updated version of Drug Control Programme

Scholars at all Premier League clubs have been guided through an updated version of The FA’s Drugs and Doping Control Education Programme.

The FA has been working for the best part of two years on producing an updated version of the programme which includes three individual film packages, each designed for the specific needs of players within the following groups:
• 16 years and under
• Scholars and apprentices
• Professional players

Also contained in the pack for scholars and apprentices is a CD-Rom with supporting educational material to supplement the information provided in each film.

Mike Earl, The FA’s Doping Control Programme Manager, says that the programme is the most comprehensive drugs education tool they have ever produced for young players. “We are delighted that the Premier League has supported the project from its inception, recognising the importance of drugs education as an essential part of any scholar’s development as a professional footballer.

“The introduction of the programme into the Premier League induction will ensure that our young players are one of the best informed groups of players in world football on the key subjects of drug use, medication and the doping control process.”

The programme provides players with a full explanation of all aspects of The FA doping control process and also highlights the various implications of social drug and alcohol use.
