City tap into population trends

Changing population trends within the Manchester area have brought about a new initiative from Manchester City’s academy recruitment team.

City were delighted when they signed up young Somalian player, Abdisalam Ibrahim, who penned a three-year deal at Eastlands and is looking to forge a career in England.

His father has re-located to Manchester and will become City’s Somalian Community Liaison Officer. There are now a number of younger Somalian players training at the academy – and the club say that they are delighted to be working closer with the community.

“I always dreamt of playing in England. My dream now is to play in the Premier League,” says Abdisalam.

It’s a dream which could become reality with Micah Richards, Ishmael Miller and Daniel Sturridge all graduating to the first team squad in the past couple of years.
