Youngsters making name for themselves
Three young scholars at Birmingham City have been creating good impressions while away on international duty.
Jordon Mutch was part of the England Under 17 squad which returned home victorious from the prestigious Algarve tournament.
Despite head coach, John Peacock, rotating his squad, Jordon was selected to start all three matches, with England beating Denmark 3-0, France 2-0 and gaining a 0-0 draw with hosts Portugal to finish top of their group.
Central defender, Krystian Pearce (pictured representing England Under 19s), has also enjoyed a highly-successful loan spell at Notts County, while Aaron-Moses Garvey has been away playing for St Kitts and Nevis.
Birmingham’s Football Education Officer, Richard Beale, says that he is proud of all his youngsters. “I would like to congratulate all our second-year scholarship players on successfully completing their FA Level 2 Coaching certificate. They all worked extremely hard and shared some of their valuable time and expertise with the young schoolboys at the academy during their practice coaching hours, which was extremely well received and added to the schooboys’ academy experience.
“The current first-year players are gearing up for some media training. They will be doing sessions with Pete Colley from Sky Sports and with the Birmingham Evening Mail’s Colin Tattum, as part of their NVQ. These mock interviews will provide invaluable experience for their potential professional careers.”
